Description:     Peninsula in European Turkey between the Dardanelles and the Aegean Sea. Site of a series of battles in 1915 which resulted in British casualties of 205,000 (43,000 killed), 33,600 ANZAC losses (over one-third killed) and 47,000 French casualties (5,000 killed). Turkish casualties were estimated at 250,000 (65,000 killed). Includes map.
