Description: Radical journal first published as Sherwin's Political Register in 1817 by Richard Carlile, a journalist. After full report of the Peterloo Massacre, Carlile changed the journal's name. He was guilty of blasphemy and seditious libel. Sentenced to three years in prison, he continued to write and edit from his prison cell.
