Title: Ultrasonic Lamb-wave Devices Based on PZT Thin Films
Description: A very thin suspended composite membrane along which acoustic waves are generated and detected, surrounded by a solid thick silicon frame, is the key component of a so called Lamb-wave sensor and/or actuator. The interdigital transducers patterned on the piezoelectric PZT layer allows the transformation of a voltage signal into a mechanical deformation and vice versa. Any external perturbations that induce a selective variation of the synchronous frequency can be investigated, e.g. temperature, pressure, added mass, electric field, shock, stress.
