"A much prettier, somewhat smarter but less-compelling game than the original." Review

"SH2 makes more effective use of shadows, lighting, and sound than 99 percent of the Hollywood
horror movies made in the last 20 years." Review by Star Dingo with screen shots and rating.

Gamezilla
"It was a little slow at times and the control issues were frustrating, but the great story,
incredible atmosphere and just plain creepiness made it all worthwhile." Review by Rob

GameCritics.com
"It's ballsy, creative, and not afraid to be different. Not everyone may like it, but make no
mistake: as far as horror goes, this is as real as it gets." Review by Matt Weise and Mike
Doolittle with rating. Includes screen shots, gallery and message board.

Armchair Empire
"With a team 60 sickos working overtime on this title, one can be certain that the technical
aspects of the game will be fantansmagorical. But what of plot and such. Do not fret, even if the
story is as shallow as a tide pool (which of course it won't be) the flash light alone has more
depth, with the advance lighting and real-time shadows, than an Ingmar Bergman flick. I'm already
scared." Preview by Tolkiemingway, with screen shots.

PlanetPS2
"If "Resident Evil" was likened to "Night of the Living Dead," then think
of Silent Hill 2 as "Twin Peaks," minus the damn fine coffee, but plus the atmospheric
gloom and cast of insane deviants, with the entire mixture then taken out back into the woods,
shot, hacked into small chunks, and buried." Review by David Hodgson with screen shots and
rating.

PSX Nation
"With solid puzzles, a great story, creepy settings, the most disgusting monsters ever and
puzzles that simply rock, Silent Hill 2 has gained my respect in the survival horror genre. I must
reiterate just how disturbing this game is so parents please keep your kids away. However if you
are over 18 and want to be frightened, then look no further." Review by Brian Shroom Gray
with screen shots. Includes consumer reviews.

"With a unique and interesting story, mind-blowing graphics, incredible soundtrack, great
gameplay and FIVE endings, it's hard to find fault with Silent Hill 2." Review by Louis

"Seldom has sound, vision, and control worked in such perfect harmony. Most players will find
themselves wanting to play SH2 right after they finish it the first time." Review by Miguel

"Things like reducing the on-screen fog, the chance to pick up a chainsaw as a weapon and
multiple endings really make it a lot of fun to go through a few times." Review by Savior.

Outer-Edge
"Like a good horror story, Silent Hill 2 plays out slowly, giving you enough to keep you
interested and on the edge of your seat. At the end, you feel satisfied with the outcome,
regardless of its nature. Some will want to go back to find missed points, but others will feel
they got it all the first time through, making them wish there was a bit more. However, the journey
was still fun and scary, and well worth the effort." Review by Mr Weishaar with screen shots
and rating.

Review by Andrew "Zarf" Plotkin
"The biggest flaw of Silent Hill 2 is that it's on a par with Silent Hill -- better in some
ways, weaker in others. SH set its standard by being a great leap beyond other horror games of its
era; SH2 repeats the standard, but doesn't repeat the great leap. Ah well. "On a par with
Silent Hill" is still a fine reason to play a game."

"Quite simply, mature PS2 owners craving a creepy game that's perfect for playing with the
lights out and speakers cranked, pick up a copy of Silent Hill 2 and you will not be disappointed.
Clean underwear not included." Review my Marc Saltzman with screen shots.

it is pure genius." Review with screen shots.

Into Liquid Sky
"Overall, with its flaws, Silent Hill 2 is one gaming experience no one will be quick to
forget. It uses a combination of sight, sound, imagery and imagination to create the scariest game
on any home console. Turn off the lights, grab your controller and enjoy the horror of Silent Hill
2." Review by Slasher Thrasher with screen shots.

Games Domain
"It's scary, beautifully imaginative and just when you think it's got as mad and twisted as it
possibly could you're treated to a stranger puzzle, harder opponent to beat or even just a deeply
twisted environment to explore." Review by Jayne Bowen with screen shots.

Game Revolution
"I'll take SH2 [over "Resident Evil"] any day. Turn out the lights, turn off that
damn radio and you'll see what I mean. It eats into your brain (mmmmmm.....) and you won't even
notice how jittery you've become until the cat suddenly jumps into your lap and you fling your
controller at the ceiling." Review by Duke with score card.

The Electric Playground
"Amid its many puzzles, creepy scares and flurries of combat, Silent Hill 2 has moments that
are so human and painful--forget about horror for the moment--that they elevate the experience from
a mere videogame to a jarring, unsettling look at pain, loss, despair and dread." Review by
Chris Hudak with screen shots.
