Outbreak of Poliomyelitis -- Angola, 1999
Many case patients resided in overcrowded municipalities where families displaced by civil war had
settled. Ministry of Health suspected the outbreak was poliomyelitis and began planning a
vaccination campaign to control the epidemic.
